Lifestyles of leopards

How to tell a leopard by its spots.
Leopards are very similar to many big cats, especially jaguars and cheetahs. So how do you tell them apart? The answer is: ROSETTES. A rosette is the circle of spots on the cat’s skin. A leopard’s rosettes are clustered together and don’t have a dot in the middle. A jaguar’s rosettes are quite different, and have a dot in the center. A cheetah does not have rosettes.

Where do leopards live?
Leopards live in many different places, including rainforests, deserts, plains and mountains. They live in sub-Saharan Africa, northeast Africa, the Arabian peninsula, the Middle East, Central Asia, India and China. I know that’s a long list but, in summary, they are widely spread in a lot of different places.

Extinct?
Soon, leopards will be extinct. Our decisions effect nature. Not just leopards, but lots of other animals too, like sea turtles, dolphins, tigers, birds and sloths. Deforistation is one of the main causes. People cut down the trees. Here is one example of why it is so bad. There are two forests next to each other. There is one leopard in each and so they have enough food and territory to survive. Suddenly, people come and start chopping down the first leopard’s forest. It is forced to move in with the other leopard. This causes fights over territory, and there is now not enough food.
